1861 RARE CSA COLOR FLAG STATIONERY CHARLES B PRENTISS 3RD SC CAV & 2ND SC INF

Description

This 8 x 5 inch Confederate Patriotic Letter is 2 pages long and was written by Charles Brewster Prentiss from Camp Charleston near Richmond, VA. He served in He served in the 3rd SC Cavalry and was Detailed Guide for Brig Gen. Johnson Hagood 6/30/63. He signed up with the 2nd SC Infantry on 5/1/61 in Charleston, SC He also served in Hart's Battery  SC Art 8/27/63 WIA at White House, VA. He was a graduate of South Carolina College in Columbia, SC at age 22 in 1860. He is writing to his sister Mamie and asks her to ask his father to write a letter of recommendation to General Bonham, etc Our camp is now under martial law & no one can go beyond the line of sentinels without a special permit., etc.  I have a little sweetheart at Babtist Female College in Richmond. etc Direct Kershaw's Regiment P.
