    Description

Up for auction is an unique mouth blown clear glass bottle with ground glass stopper. I did not see any manufacturer marks. There is an upside-down heart shape on one side of the bottle. The bottle is 5.25" tall to the top of the lid. The base is 2.75" x 1.5". I searched the internet for information but was unable to locate a similar bottle. My mother-in-law (deceased) had attached a sticker to the bottle "Belonged to Avis Laue JW". Avis was my husbands, grandfathers sister (1907-2003).
I sent pictures and description to a bottle expert and this was his reply:
    "
The bottle is almost certainly - given the ground glass stopper, colorless glass and overall "look" - a perfume or cologne bottle.  It is certainly mouth-blown (aka "hand made") and not machine-made having a hand tooled lip (aka "finish") with the neck and stopper shank also done via hand work. It is hard to date such bottles since very upscale perfume bottles are still made sometimes by hand blowing methods.  However, from the look and design of it, I would suspect that it was made sometime after 1900 but no later than the 1930s."
The bottle has a chipped area on the base edge below the heart shape. There are "flea bites" on the rim of the bottle and lid.
Please view the images for condition and ignore the glare and reflections.
I added .00 handling charge for insurance.
