    Description

    Antique Victorian black stone beads mourning necklace with black silk tassel. Unsigned. Late 1800s - early 1900s. Single strand satin finish black beads of various shapes and sizes. Beads are irregular rounds and ovals, no two exactly alike. The black coloration on some beads has either faded or was never adequate, as there is a brownish tint to some of the beads. Beads are cold to the to the touch like stone. Exact material unknown.  Tiny chips on some of the beads; nothing major. Long black silk tassel suspended from 1 3/4" length of beads at bottom front center. Tassel silk has faded around top braiding. Brass tone metal spring ring clasp. Good condition.
