    Description

    Fabulous Antique Victorian Gutta Percha Mourning Locket Unique Etched Church Detailed.  This piece measures approximately 2 1/8" from top loop and 1 5/8" at widest.  Incredibly detailed scene of Gothic church--so many finely etched aspects from the monogram at left, spires, windows--even the iron hinges on the front doors!  Locket opens to about 90 degrees with an amazing floral design carved on the side with no bezel or cover.  Opposite side has a glass cover and bezel, and as you can see, it has not been removed and cleaned to reveal the carving I believe is underneath.  One chip to the outside of the hinge, but as far as I can tell it does not impact the structure and has been stable for the many years I've owned it.  Very unique and rare piece!   Although I believe this piece is made of gutta percha, I'm not an expert, so see pictures for details as all sales final and as is.
