A  4 page letter written on Patriotic Letterhead on June 22, 1861 from Foart Jersey, Darlington Heights, Fairefax County Virginia by Captain J Gale of Company B  of the Fourth Ohio Burlington Brigade.
In this letter Captain Gale. says please excuse all of the misspellings. He thanks the recipient for the Shirts, Havelocks, pocket handkerchiefs and towels that were sent for his Company. And how he distributed them to his men with some left over. He describes  the fort they have built with their 22 large cannon and how they are pointed at Elexan Den and Harpers Ferry Roads. he describes 3 large magazines and ammunition to blow Jefferson Davis and All his Rebbels out of this glorious Land. He mentions seeing Mrs Abraham Lincoln and her children looking at the front and the 10,000 troupes.Plus more including the men washing themselves and their clothes in the river, inspection of knapsacks and more.
