Description

This pheasant figurine is marked Goldcrest Fine China USA as well as Goldcrest Ceramics Corp, model 1148, under the plinth. The Goldscheider family, operating in Austria as the Goldscheider porcelain factory, escaped occupied Austria and came to the U.S., establishing a new company in Trenton, N.J. that they called Goldscheider-U.S.A.. The company specialized in ceramic animals, birds and other figurines, much as they had done at their factory in Austria. In 1947 the name of the firm was changed to Goldcrest Ceramics Corporation. The papers of that incorporation were voided in 1953. That means this figurine was produced between 1947 and 1953 due to the hallmark. In February 1950, the Goldscheider company moved back to Austria and resumed production there.
This pheasant figurine is quite large, measuring about 8 1/2" tall by 11 1/2" long. It is beautifully modeled and decorated. Fully hallmarked, as shown in the photos. Please see our other auctions for more vintage pheasant figurines. We are happy to combine domestic shipping on multiple purchases.
