    Description

Great Britain 1658 Cromwell Silver Shilling NGC XF-45
A challenging, though often overlooked, denomination from Cromwell's short tenure of Lord Protector of the Commonwealth. These coins were struck in limited numbers very near the end of the Commonwealth era, when Cromwell ruled like a king but refused to be so called. Most pieces were destroyed during the Restoration of the Monarchy beginning in 1660. Designed by Thomas Simon. Sharply struck with the result that a pleasing degree of detail remains even after circulation.
