    Description

    These are two early automobile rim wrenches, used to take off mounting bolts to remove split rims from the wheel when changing tires. One is made by the Allen Mfg Co of Hartford CT, who made quality tools for a few years around 1920, 14 7/8" long, with a 5/8" hex socket end. Good condition, wood is very good on the grips, but the end grip, while it turns, does bind. While there have been several Allen companies over the years, the Allen Mfg Co of Hartford is the one which originated the hex set screws and the L shaped wrenches known as Allen wrenches, so their name lives on in history. Tool is marked Patented 1910 on the socket. The other wrench is made by Fawsco, a company organized by George Faw in New York City, an all steel wrench, 13 1/4" long, with a 3/4" socket.
